Frequently asked questions
Which drawing formats does Matterial accept?
PDF or image (JPG, PNG or WebP) up to 25 MB per file. If you have the BIM model, the IFC goes through the BIM module, which reads quantities off the model.
How do I know which revision is the right one?
Each set has a current revision. When you upload a new one, it becomes current for everyone; earlier ones stay in the history and you can mark another as current if needed.
Can I see what changed between two revisions?
Yes. Pick the revision you want to compare against and see them overlaid, with a control to blend one into the other. Changes jump out without printing anything.
Does Matterial extract quantities from the drawing automatically?
No. You measure on the drawing with the scale calibrated —lengths, areas, volumes and pieces— and each measurement feeds a budget line item. With the IFC model, quantities come off the model.
Does the contractor need an account to see the drawing?
No. You share a link that always shows the current revision, and from there they can leave comments that land in your markup list.
