A construction estimate is the ordered list of everything that has to be built, how much of each item, and at what price. Labor: day rate, piece rate, and the crew inside the unit price
On most jobsites labor gets priced two ways, and both end up inside the unit price. On a day rate you pay for the time each crew member works — journeyman, apprentice, laborer — no matter how much got installed; on a piece rate you pay by the quantity produced — so much per SF of plaster, so much per LF of footing — and production is on whoever does the work.
