How AI credits work
Every AI feature in Matterial—reading receipts, voice daily logs, blueprint analysis, the copilot—runs on credits. Each company gets a shared monthly pool based on its plan, and you can buy more whenever you need it. Here's how the model works.
- Every plan comes with a monthly pool of credits (Free 200 → Enterprise 25,000).
- The pool belongs to the company: everyone draws from the same one.
- Each AI action is priced by its own unit (receipts per page, voice per minute, and so on).
- You can buy credit packs (top-ups) that get added on top of your pool.
- 1
Check your balance
In Matterial Credits (menu → Credits) you'll see this month's balance, how much you've used, and which actions used it.
- 2
Know the cost of each action
Reading a receipt costs 2 credits per page; a voice daily log, 2 per minute; a quality/safety finding, 3; analyzing a single blueprint sheet, 40; and a full DWG drawing, 120.
- 3
Everyone shares the pool
Credits belong to the company, not to individual users. If your site engineer reads 10 receipts, they come out of the same pool the buyer or the director draws from.
- 4
Buy more if you run short
When your monthly allowance runs out, you buy a credit pack (top-up) that's added to your pool and only kicks in once you've used up the allowance included with your plan.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I run out of credits?
AI actions pause until you buy more credits or your new cycle begins. The rest of the platform—estimates, schedule, purchasing—keeps working as usual.
Do the credits I buy expire?
Purchased credits (top-ups) are added to your pool. Your included monthly allowance doesn't roll over: whatever you don't use in the month doesn't carry into the next.
Can the Free plan use AI?
Yes—with its 200 credits a month—except for AI blueprint analysis (the pricey one), which needs purchased credits or a paid plan.
